Fabulous Tirthan Valley and Great Himalayan National Park Educational Tour (03 Nights / 04 Days)
Departure from Chandigarh in the Evening 270 Kms 6-7 Hours
Assemble at school premises and depart in the evening. Dinner will be provided Heritage Haveli, Ropar. Overnight journey by bus.
On reaching Tirthan valley, morning tea/milk will be served. After freshen up students will be served breakfast. In the afternoon orientation Session for the students with introduction to World of Forests and issues involved through a slide-show presentation. Bio-diversity Walk: An in-camp activity, in which participants will document, with the help of local NGO staff, the plant diversity in and around camp site as well as the commercial and medicinal uses of prominent trees and plants. In the Evening Folk Music Workshop with local artists around Bon-Fire.Dinner will be served at the camp.
In the morning after breakfast trekking excursion to Rola situated at the height of 6800 feet. The trek offers an easy to moderate trekking experience with striking views of Great Himalayan National Park. Lunch will be served on way to Rola. On reaching Rola, tent pitching/ Relaxation/Forest Exploration & Bird watching session. (The birds of GHNP are an important part of the Park’s biological diversity and an attraction for bird watchers. The Park falls within one of the globally important Endemic Bird Areas identified by the ICDP Biodiversity Project.) Camp Fire or Cultural Program in the evening with dinner & night stay in tents at Great Himalayan National Park.
Return Back from Rola Base Camp 3-4 Hours Trek
After finishing the breakfast students will trek back to the base camp. In the afternoon students can enjoy adventurous activities such as Rappelling, River crossing, waterfall walks etc. OR The students can participate in performing a street play for a local audience comprising of residents of surrounding villages to convey the message of conservation and sustainable development (in conjunction with volunteers from BTCA, a local NGO). In the evening, Group Presentation on Eco-zone tour, Eco-treasure hunts findings with an environmental quiz. Dinner & night stay in dormitories at camp site.
Departure from Tirthan Valley
Post breakfast students will be transferred to Chandigarh with lunch halt on the way. After reaching Chandigarh in the evening, students will be dropped at the school premises.
